چکیده

A monofilar spiral antenna is analyzed in the presence of a conducting plane reflector, using the method of moments. The circumference of the spiral antenna is chosen to be 2.3 wavelengths. A tilted beam of circular polarization is realized by superposing the fields from two active regions. The gain of the tilted beam is approximately 8 dB. The frequency bandwidths for 1-dB gain drop and 3-dB axial ratio criterions are 12% and 23%, respectively. An array consisting of the four monofilar spiral antennas is also analyzed, where the array element spacing is chosen to be 0.8 wavelength at a design frequency f0. The input impedances of the four spirals are almost the same as the impedance of the single monofilar spiral antenna at f0. The array radiates a tilted fan beam with a gain increase of approximately 6 dB from the gain of the single spiral antenna at f0. The frequency bandwidth for a 3-dB axial ratio criterion is almost the same as that of the single spiral antenna.

Circularly Polarized Circular Slot Antenna Array Using Sequentially Rotated Feed Network

This paper presents the design, simulation, and measurement of two low-cost broadband circularly polarized (CP) printed antennas: a single element and an array at C band. The proposed single element antenna is excited by an L-shaped strip with a tapered end, located along the circular-slot diagonal line in the back plane. From the array experimental results, the 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth can r...

A Monofilar Spiral Antenna Excited Through a Helical Wire

The radiation characteristics of a monofilar spiral antenna excited through a helical wire are investigated using the method of moments. The spiral has a circumference of more than two wavelengths (2.3 , where is the wavelength at a test frequency of 6 GHz) to obtain a tilted beam. An input impedance of approximately 50 is realized by appropriately selecting the diameter and pitch angle of the ...

Circularly Polarized Rounded-Off Triangular Microstrip Line Array Antenna

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) plans to launch a geostationary satellite called Engineering Test Satellite VIII (ETS-VIII) in FY 2006. In this paper, a microstrip line array antenna, which has a very simple structure, is introduced to radiate a circularly polarized wave aiming at ETS-VIII applications. This antenna consists of a triangular conducting line with its vertexes rounde...

CPW-Fed Circularly Polarized Slot ANTENNA with Elliptical-Shaped Patch for UWB Applications

A new design of coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed antenna with circular polarization (CP) and excellent impedance matching is presented. In this design a pair of circular-shaped slits is applied to opposite corners of the slot for enhancing the impedance matching and realizes bandwidth of 134.43% across 2.98-15.20 GHz for VSWR≤2. Furthermore this structure exhibits axial ration bandwidth (ARBW) of 3...

Design, simulation and Fabrication of Circularly Polarized Fabry-Perot Antenna for Ku Band

This paper deals with the design and simulation of a RHCP Fabry-Perot antenna for 14.5 GHz. Based on transmission line model, partially Reflecting Surface (PRS) was designed so thatgain enhancement and circular polarization simultaneously obtained.
